Maine Psychological Assessment and Consultation, LLC is a Maine-based team of professionals who provide comprehensive and targeted assessments for developmental, behavioral, psychological, and learning concerns.

We contract with schools in the areas of central and downeast Maine to provide assessments and there are many different types of evaluations that may be requested, but typically, assessments are divided into two main (but overlapping) areas: 1) to rule in or out a learning disability that may be affecting a child’s ability to perform academically, or 2) to rule in or out a psychological or developmental disorder that may be affecting a child academically, socially, interpersonally, and/or behaviorally. The most common referrals ask us to assess for one or more of the following:

  • Specific Learning Disability in Reading (including Dyslexia)
  • Specific Learning Disability in Mathematics
  • Specific Learning Disability in Written Language
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Anxiety or Depressive Disorders
  • Developmental Disorders
  • Other Disorders we are commonly asked about:
  • Sensory Processing Disorder
  • Dyslexia

Our evaluations are multifaceted and may include observations, interviews with parents/teachers, direct student testing, behavior rating scales, and analysis of records to offer a comprehensive understanding about how to best provide educational opportunities.

We look for unique strengths in each of our students and make recommendations on how to create the best environment for each child to reach their potential.

We are currently accepting referrals though Special Education Departments or individual contracts with organizations. If you would like to have your child evaluated, please talk to the Special Education Department at your child’s school.
